Our Vision
We are committed to transforming the lives of children and young people through effective, distinctive, rooted and inclusive education. This vision shapes everything we do — from the training we offer to the resources we provide for schools, governors, and clergy.
"A leader must also have faith in the people she is to lead — to see good in them and raise them to higher achievement through praise not condemnation, encouragement not criticism."Rt Rev'd Martyn Snow, Bishop of Leicester
The Leicester Diocesan Board of Education exists to support and strengthen the family of Church of England schools and academies across the diocese. Our work is rooted in a deep conviction that every child and young person deserves an education that is both academically excellent and spiritually nourishing. We serve headteachers, governors, and clergy by providing guidance, resources, and training that help schools flourish. Our team works alongside school leaders to nurture inclusive communities where faith and learning go hand in hand. Through collaboration and shared vision, we aim to see each school within our family grow as a place of hope, achievement, and belonging for all.
At the heart of our mission is a commitment to transforming lives through distinctive Christian education. We believe that effective schooling goes beyond exam results to shape character, build resilience, and inspire a lifelong love of learning. Our vision is rooted in inclusive practice, ensuring that every child regardless of background or ability can thrive. We encourage schools to create environments where praise and encouragement lift pupils to higher achievement, and where criticism is always constructive. This approach helps young people develop confidence, compassion, and a strong sense of purpose as they grow.
Our team of advisors and education professionals works closely with schools across the diocese to offer tailored support in areas such as collective worship, religious education, and spiritual development. We provide training for headteachers, governors, and clergy that is practical, current, and grounded in the real needs of school communities. Regular events bring together school staff and church leaders to share good practice, reflect on challenges, and celebrate successes. Through these connections, we strengthen the bonds within our school family and ensure that every setting has access to the expertise it needs to move forward with confidence.
We are proud to serve a diverse and vibrant school family that spans towns and villages across the diocese. Each school brings its own unique character, shaped by its local community and the dedication of its staff and governors. Our role is to walk alongside these schools, offering encouragement, challenge, and support as they pursue their vision for every child. Whether through resources for collective worship, guidance on governance, or opportunities for professional development, we seek to be a reliable partner in the ongoing work of educating and nurturing young lives. Together we build a future of hope and achievement.
