The Leicester Diocesan Board of Education serves as a vital support network for a large family of church schools and academies across the region. Rooted in a clear Christian vision, the DBE works alongside head teachers, governors, and clergy to ensure that every child experiences an education that is both academically excellent and spiritually nurturing. The board provides strategic guidance, practical resources, and ongoing professional development opportunities that help school leaders create environments where faith and learning flourish together. This collaborative approach strengthens the distinctive character of each school while fostering a shared sense of purpose across the entire diocesan community.

Religious Education lies at the heart of the church school experience, and the DBE is committed to helping schools deliver RE that is both rigorous and inspiring. A wide range of curriculum materials, schemes of work, and lesson guidance are available to support teachers across all key stages. These resources are designed to help pupils engage deeply with theological concepts, explore different faith traditions, and develop their own spiritual understanding. The aim is to equip every child with the knowledge and curiosity to ask big questions about life, belief, and meaning, all within a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Collective Worship is a cornerstone of daily life in church schools, and the DBE offers extensive support to help schools plan and deliver worship that is meaningful, reflective, and engaging. Resources include themed planning templates, seasonal materials for the Christian year, and creative ideas for involving pupils in leading worship. The guidance helps schools balance tradition with innovation, ensuring that worship remains a vibrant and integral part of the school day. Whether through quiet reflection, lively song, or interactive storytelling, the goal is to create spaces where every child can encounter hope and wonder.

The DBE is also deeply committed to supporting the spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development of every pupil. SMSC education is woven throughout the curriculum and school life, helping children develop character, resilience, and a strong sense of values. Resources and training are available to help schools embed these principles in everything they do, from classroom teaching to playground interactions. By nurturing empathy, respect, and a sense of responsibility, the DBE helps schools prepare young people not just for academic success, but for lives of purpose and service in their communities.
